Alastair James

Alastair James is managing director of STM. He has a degree in economics and computer science from the University of Edinburgh, and over twenty five years consulting experience in the ICT industry.

His experience includes strategy, policy, technology planning and implementation, business and industry development projects for public and private sector clients. Technologies covered include voice and data communications, private networking, broadband and electronic commerce, technology infrastructure and business applications in private and government sectors.

He has particular experience in electoral systems from projects for electoral commissions; and in the health sector for state and Commonwealth health agencies.

Alastair has ongoing involvement in Australian industry development through participation in industry bodies and policy forums.

Peter Hitchiner

Peter Hitchiner is a principal of STM. He has a BSc (Hons) – Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, and over twenty five years of experience in the telecommunications industry.

Peter is experienced in a wide range of technical and regulatory issues related to private and public telecommunications. He has particular skills in strategic and business planning of public carrier and private telecommunications, project and contract management, network planning and design, broadband optical fibre and other cabling, switching systems, fixed and mobile radio and satellite communications. Peter’s experience includes planning and implementation of major infrastructure projects and mobile telecommunications systems.

Peter is involved with Engineers Australia and the Australian Computer Society and has developed an extensive network in the supplier, consulting, project management, legal, corporate, government and user communities. This enables Peter to keep abreast of technical and user requirement issues as they evolve.

Richard Dixon Hughes

Richard Dixon Hughes is a senior associate with STM Consulting, and Managing Director of DH4 Pty Ltd. Richard has qualifications in engineering, information technology and law, and over twenty years experience as both a senior executive and as a principal consultant advising on the effective application of information and communications technology (ICT). Richard is involved in various industry and professional leadership roles with Australian and international standards bodies.

Richard specialises in IT strategic planning; governance, organisation, management and review of ICT activities; eHealth standards and the application of ICT in the health and government sectors.
